🎓 You Don’t Have to Be in the Ivy League to Be Among the World’s Best — UC Berkeley

When people talk about the top universities in the United States, many families may think of the Ivy League first. However, the Ivy League is actually just a group of eight private universities in the northeastern United States. Being outside this group does not mean that a university has lower quality or less prestige.

The University of California, Berkeley, or UC Berkeley, is a great example.

Berkeley is a world-renowned public university, particularly well known for Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Chemistry, Economics, Business, and research. It is also located in the San Francisco Bay Area, close to one of the world’s most important ecosystems for Technology and Innovation.

What makes Berkeley interesting is not only its reputation, but also the opportunity to study at a large university with a diverse student body, a wide range of academic programs, numerous student activities, and many academic opportunities. Students can also experience the distinctive California lifestyle, which is quite different from that of many Ivy League universities on the East Coast.

However, Berkeley is not an easy university to study at. Academics are rigorous and competition is high as well. The difference is that the overall university experience can have a different character — from the size and diversity of the student community to the West Coast culture and its close connection to the worlds of Technology, Startups, and Innovation.

That is why Little Thinkerland wants students to look beyond simply the label of “Ivy League.”

The United States has many other top universities, including UC Berkeley, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, the University of Chicago, Duke, and Northwestern. While they are not part of the Ivy League, they are highly respected and internationally recognized for excellence in their respective fields.
